Department of Theology

Faculty of Theology and Divinity


LAMAU offers 2 Bachelors degree programme and 2 Diploma programmes under the faculty of Theology. The Bachelor of Divinity and Bachelor of Arts in Theology. TBoth of the programmes are intended to acquaint Theological Students with deeper knowledge and skills of current issues affecting people, Churches and the contemporary world. This will enable Servants in the Church to become relevant in a fast changing world.

The Diploma programmes under the faculty and department of theology are offered in conjuction with Carlie College in Kenya. These programmes are; Diploma in Children and Family Ministry and Dimploma in School chaplaincy.

In terms of the career prospects, Successful graduates can work in institutions such as Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s), Civil Society Organizations (CSO’s), Faith Based Organizations (FBO’s), Colleges/Universities, Secondary Schools, Counselling Centres and in Anglican Churches as ordained Clergy and other Churches in Malawi and beyond.

All applicants are expected to satisfy the minimum requirements for admission into the Bachelor of Divinity programme. This is done through submission of the required and acceptable certified documents that meet admission requirements.

Entry Requirements

There are two modes of entry into the programmes under the department of Theology; Normal Entry and Mature-Entry

  • Normal Entry: Entry to Bachelor of Divinity and Theology is open to candidates who meet the minimum requirements for admission, that is; A full Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with at least six credit passes including English. OR An equivalent of MSCE with good passes based on the assessment system used.
  • Mature Entry: Diploma in Theology with a pass of 55% or above or a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or above in the final year obtained from a credible and recognized Institution. OR Two year work experience in the relevant field plus four credits passes including English at MSCE.
