Faculty of Commerce
The Bachelor of Commerce degree has been designed in consultation with industry leaders, and graduate recruiters. Core units of study will progressively develop your knowledge and skills, to help you transition from school to university and then into the world of business with confidence. The program offers its students a strong commercial grounding in the main areas of business, preparing you for a career in virtually any field, anywhere in the world. It also offers you the flexibility to combine specialty study in a wide range of majors, allowing you to tailor your degree to suit your career aspirations and help you to get where you want to go.
The Bachelor of Commerce program gives you principles and theories in business, exposure to practical business cases and experiences, drawn from our wide network of local and international business partners, and taught by some of the most dedicated and experienced educators in the country. We offer students an opportunity to work for a leading firm, through our Industry Placement Program.
Successful graduates can work in several fields of work or institutions both in the private and public institutions including non-profit organisations as financial managers, accountants, auditors, marketers, human resources managers, administrators or CEO’s.

The Faculty and Department of Commerce has 4 programmes fully registered and accredited by the National Council for Higher Educatiob (NCHE) as well as Malawi Accountancy Board (MAB). These programmes include:
There are two modes of entry into the programmes under the department of commerce; Normal Entry and Mature-Entry
Normal Entry: A full Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with at least six credit passes including English and Mathematics; OR an equivalent of MSCE with good passes based on the assessment system used
Mature Entry:
a. Diploma in accounting/finance/marketing/business management/human resources management with a pass of 55% or above or a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or above in the final year obtained from a credible and recognized Institution. OR
b. Two year work experience in the relevant field plus four credits passes including English at MSCE
c. Eligible candidates under this requirement are only those who hold a two year or above Diploma. Those who hold a less than two year Diploma are not covered under this requirement.
d. Those with Diploma as in “a” above will have exemption of the first two years and enter at third year (3rd) year.
Academic achievement at the Secondary School level will have to be thoroughly scrutinized to ascertain credibility of their papers
