University Council

Appointment procedures

Appointments shall be in accordance with the University constitution which states that there is hereby established the Council of the Lake Malawi Anglican University, which shall comprise professionally competent and committed personnel to the cores and objectives of the University, which under that name shall be a body corporate with perpetual succession and common seal.

The members shall serve for a period of not more than two (2) years and shall serve under terms and conditions as provided for under the University’s Constitution.

Functions of the Council

The General functions include the following:

The Council shall be the governing body of the University and shall be responsible for the management and administration of the University and of its property and revenues, and shall exercise general control and supervision over all affairs of the University.

The Council shall also be responsible to the Ministry responsible for higher education and all other regulatory authorities or groupings as guided by the Laws of Malawi.

The Council shall have powers to do or perform any act necessary for discharging its responsibilities subject to the provisions of the University’s Constitution
